Local Life Lindos: The Magic of Getting Lost
It was Easter in Lindos and my wife and I, having visited many times, decided to explore the village deeper off the tourist beaten main areas. With no guide, map, or idea – it’s a fun way to explore, especially for me with camera in hand.
We discovered a few streets we’d never seen and stopped for coffee. On our way back, I captured several beautiful doorways (I do love Greek doors) and of course some of the many cats.
This lovely little street was very typical of Lindos, and I was attracted to the interplay of steps, doorway, and shadows. I shot a few frames when this chap approached on his moped, which I managed to capture as he disappeared about his day down the back street, avoiding the crowds.
These are the moments that make following my Greek adventures worthwhile – discovering authentic local life beyond the postcard views. Real people living real lives in these ancient villages, taking shortcuts through centuries-old streets while tourists stick to the main drag.
This is why I always encourage getting lost in Greek villages. The real stories happen in the back alleys.
Follow my journey for more discoveries beyond the obvious tourist shots.
