INTO THE ONSHORE

Storms may not be the most comfortable conditions for capturing the world, but they often offer dramatic and fast-evolving light. This is particularly true on the coast, where the sea adds another layer of drama with its wide vista of light, color gradations, and cloud formations stretching to the distant horizon.

With a storm forecast, I headed to the coast, anticipating striking clouds, dynamic light, and powerful tides approaching the beach. By the time I arrived, the storm had picked up momentum, bringing strong gusts of wind.

As I walked along the coast, I spotted this gull struggling against the onshore wind. I decided to wait, timing my shots to capture the moment when the clouds and light aligned perfectly over the sea.
