Beer & Boat Devon

Beer is a quaint fishing village in Beer, Devon, in the southwest of England. Being less than an hour from my studio, I decided to go and shoot some of the old fishing boats, perfect for coastal decor for home enthusiasts.

Because there is no harbour, the fishing boats are dragged on top of wooden rollers by a large winch up the steep shingle beach, where they are stored safe from the tide. This unique method of storing boats adds a distinctive charm to the coastal scenery, ideal for shore wall decor and nautical house decor.

I loved the soft muted light, whose tonality was enhanced further by the bright pebbles on the beach. This light perfectly balanced with the pastel colours of the boats, creating a serene and picturesque scene. The tranquil setting, with only the sounds of the sea and occasional gull to be heard, made it a beautiful quiet English day by the coast.
