Summer Sunset Above Burrow Hill
The first time I visited here was on a hot English summer’s day with my wife. The hill, with its single tree and rope swing, reminded me of an image in a book from my childhood. I think it was the Jack and Jill nursery rhyme story, and it had quite an impact on me..
BACKSTORY
Summer Sunset Above Burrow Hill
Burrow Hill is located near the Somerset village of Kingsbury Episcopi. I’ve photographed Burrow Hill many times, and it’s amazing how a new viewpoint can give you a completely different perspective on the familiar.
The first time I visited here was on a hot English summer’s day with my wife. The hill, with its single tree and rope swing, reminded me of an image in a book from my childhood. I think it was the Jack and Jill nursery rhyme story, and it had quite an impact on me.
As a result, I’ve returned here many times to shoot it illuminated with Christmas lights, photographed an owl, and also did some time-lapse video. This historic place holds a special charm that I love to capture in my work.
This time, I wanted to capture it on a summer’s evening by drone. Using drone photography allowed me to gain a completely new perspective. Being high above the hill gave a fabulous view of the apple orchards below and the Somerset Levels beyond. The aerial photo showcased the expansive landscape in a way that ground-based photography could not, adding a unique dimension to my collection of Somerset art and Somerset images.
The elevated viewpoint provided by the drone captured the beauty of Burrow Hill and its surroundings perfectly. This aerial perspective is ideal for creating stunning poster prints, posters photography, and photography wall art. It’s perfect for large photography wall art and wall art prints, bringing the serene beauty of Somerset into any room decor.
The drone images, highlighting the picturesque apple orchards and the sweeping Somerset Levels, are perfect for those who appreciate aesthetic photography canvas art decor.

What’s The Difference Between A Canvas And A Limited Edition Print?
The canvas prints are open edition — produced on artist-grade cotton canvas with archival pigment inks. There is no limit on how many can be made. The limited edition prints are on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper — a heavy cotton paper used in museum collections — with a strict edition cap. When the edition sells out, the image is permanently retired. Both use the same photographs. The difference is the material, the edition limit, and what that means for long-term ownership.
