My colour workflow is calibrated from camera to print — however, every screen displays colour slightly differently. If you’re unsure about a tone before ordering, email [email protected].

Not stock. Not AI. One photographer, 37 years, sharing his personal vision through the moments and stories behind every image.

The Chapel of Saint George Pachymachiotis, Lindos — my 10th visit to Rhodes. A cat had taken the same spot on the chapel roof where a bird sat in an earlier image. It watched the dawn break over the Aegean. We all did. 37 years. Published by National Geographic and TIME Magazine.

Description

THE Cat Who Claimed the Sunrise Throne

Well, it seems this is a popular spot. This time I noticed a cat had taken up the very same position on the roof, enjoying the morning unfolding across the Aegean.

BACKSTORY

Cat Who Claimed the Sunrise Throne

You would think I’d exhausted the photographic locations in Rhodes, and I won’t lie – this visit, which I believe was my 10th time here, I did start to think it might be my last for a while. But then I’ve said that before.

This second visit of the year was meant to be more relaxed, with just a few dawn shoots planned and no fixed agenda unlike back in August.

I never get tired of Lindos. It’s simply stunning – a beautiful whitewashed village surrounded by dramatic mountains and stunning views of the Aegean.

Gracie, my eldest daughter, once again decided to join me as we wandered and explored more of the small narrow streets, revisiting the Chapel of Saint George Pachymachiotis that I’d photographed a few years earlier.

This time I wanted a new angle to incorporate more of the amazing view towards the mountains and capture the dawn unfolding.

You may have seen another image of mine from this same chapel titled “Perched On The Chapel at Dawn.” In that image, I’d unknowingly captured a bird perched on the chapel roof, looking towards the rising dawn.

Well, it seems this is a popular spot. This time I noticed a cat had taken up the very same position on the roof, enjoying the morning unfolding across the Aegean.

We settled in and watched another incredible morning unfold – together with Gracie and the one with the best seat in the house.

What’s The Difference Between A Canvas And A Limited Edition Print?

The canvas prints are open edition — produced on artist-grade cotton canvas with archival pigment inks. There is no limit on how many can be made. The limited edition prints are on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper — a heavy cotton paper used in museum collections — with a strict edition cap. When the edition sells out, the image is permanently retired. Both use the same photographs. The difference is the material, the edition limit, and what that means for long-term ownership.
