The Venetian Bridge Of Argassi Zakynthos, Greece
This bridge has stood at the edge of the bay at Argassi for centuries. Most people photograph it from the shore. I waded out before dawn to find an angle that showed it the way it deserves to be seen — reflected, isolated, completely still. There’s a melancholy to it that I find compelling. It has survived everything. The light that morning was extraordinary, the kind that only appears for a few minutes and then disappears as if it was never there. This print suits a study or a living room where you want something with genuine presence.
Dawn At The Gate Rhodes Old Town, Greece
The medieval gate into Rhodes Old Town is one of the most photographed subjects on the island. I came back to it alone at 5am, in January, when the tourists were long gone and the light was doing something I’d never seen it do before. The stone glows at that hour — warm amber against a deep blue sky — and for a few minutes the 700 years between then and now disappear entirely. This is the print I’d put in a home office or a hallway. Somewhere you pass it every day and each time notice something different.
Morning Chorus Lindos Rhodes, Greece
Lindos at dawn belongs to the swallows. By 7am the village is waking up, the cafes are opening, and the moment is gone. But for an hour before that — just the birds, the whitewashed walls, the light arriving slowly from the east. I’ve photographed Lindos many times over many years. This is the image I keep coming back to. It captures something about the place that the busier hours never can. For a dining room, a hallway, or any wall where you want to feel the warmth of the Mediterranean without sentimentality.
