Nocturnal #4 Charles Bridge Steps Prague
Several years ago I took a trip to Prague to capture some images for a CGI automotive project I was working on and to also capture some personal images of this historic city.
I was there for 3 very full on days in November. The weather was quite damp but this only added to the gothic beauty.
The only issue I had on this trip was I struggled badly with walking due to a dodgy ankle and knee.
This got worse over the days due to the amount of walking compounded by the uneven cobbled roads around the city.
Despite my discomfort I rose each morning well before dawn to capture the magical light that I call “The Edge Of Darkness” when it’s neither day or night.
This short but beautiful window of light enabled me to capture the dark brooding beauty of this amazing city.
Walking around a city in a foreign country in the dark can be a little unnerving and this was especially the case here.
As I stood in the cool damp morning air looking at the Charles Bridge I couldn’t help but remember all the stories about the occupation of the city by the German army during WW2.
I stood and wondered about all the rich history here and if only these buildings and statues could talk what amazing stories they could tell.
I ended up returning home with 6 or 7 final images (and a bit of a limp) which I felt represented Prague exactly the way I had experienced it in all its Gothic beauty.
