I know that person. I am, in many ways, that person.
The Loulaki & Lime collection came from the same instinct. Loulaki is the particular shade of blue you find on whitewashed Greek island walls — not quite cobalt, not quite sky. Lime is the bleached warmth of old stone in morning light. Together they describe a palette that is simple without being plain, calm without being cold.
These are photographs for people who understand that restraint is its own form of sophistication. A single image, well chosen, does more for a room than a wall full of noise.

Historic Staircase Rhodes Old Town, Greece
The staircases of Rhodes Old Town are some of the most quietly beautiful things I’ve photographed. No drama. No obvious subject. Just worn stone steps, soft early light, and 700 years of people passing through. I came back to this particular staircase three times before I found the light exactly right. The image works because it doesn’t try to impress. It simply is. For a hallway, a landing, a study — anywhere you want something that rewards a second look without demanding a first.
The Cat Who Claimed the Sunrise Throne Lindos, Rhodes, Greece
Anyone who follows my work knows about the cats. They find me on every dawn shoot — appearing from doorways, dropping off walls, padding along behind me through empty streets as if they were hired to escort me to the best light. I’ve stopped questioning it.
At dawn in Lindos, before the village wakes, the cats own the place entirely. This one had chosen the highest point of a crumbling wall and sat there with the kind of absolute composure that only cats and very old buildings manage. The light was extraordinary. The cat was indifferent to all of it.
It’s the most human image I’ve made in years — and it happens to have no people in it. For a kitchen, a living room, or any space that takes itself slightly too seriously.
Perched On The Chapel At Dawn Lindos, Rhodes, Greece
I’ve photographed this chapel more times than I can count. At dawn the stillness around it is complete — no wind, no voices, just the particular silence that settles over Lindos before the village remembers itself. I stood there that morning waiting for the light to find the dome, the way it does for a few minutes before it moves on and the moment is gone.
I didn’t notice the bird until I got home and processed the image. Perched on the ridge of the roof, absolutely still, as if it had been waiting there longer than I had. It’s the thing that makes this image — proof that I wasn’t alone in that silence, even when I thought I was.

I’ve spent 37 years learning when not to press the shutter.
The photographs that didn’t make this collection were mostly eliminated for the same reason — too much happening, too many elements competing, the eye pulled in three directions at once. The ones that stayed are the ones where everything unnecessary had already left the frame before I arrived.
That discipline — knowing what to leave out — is what I hope you feel in these prints. Published by National Geographic and TIME Magazine. Licensed by British Airways and Unilever.
